The 2010 summer show was a massive success!
Please take time to read the below review of the show by JAKS student Yasmin Tills.
JAKS - The Musical
This summer saw JAKS perform their 3rd show, ‘JAKS the
Musical’ at a new location of King Edward VI School.
Members had been told to meet at 10am precise to get
rehearsals going, however on arrival of the theatre it
became apparent that room backstage was not exactly what
the members of JAKS had expected. Rooms had to be
cleared of stage props and clutter, eating into
rehearsal time which meant JAKS had to pull hours of
rehearsal into a new, shorter time schedule.
Throughout the day, everyone worked together combining
singing, acting and dancing to achieve an absolutely
fantastic summer musical! West Side Story’s ‘Tonight’
opened with an ensemble cast, which was an incredible
start to the musical engaging the audience in the high
energy from the stage.
The cast most definitely performed their hearts out,
reaching every note and hitting every dance step as
‘JAKS the Musical’ highlighted memories formed over the
past year as we watched JAKS Academy grow, including
things such as JAKS open day right back at Oakthorpe
Leisure Centre to moving into the new location of Saxon
House, to the presentation evening and much much more.
From start to finish you could see that along with the
cast, audience members were enjoying themselves,
clapping and whooping as the ending of each number
progressed into another part of the ever growing story
of JAKS Academy. Finally closing with a roof raising
number of Glee’s version of ‘Don’t Stop Believing.’
