Miss Kirsty

I Started my very first dance lesson at the age of three and from there on it has been a life filled with leaps jumps and turns. I have achieved many exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Stage through many syllabuses from RAD to ISTD. As a child I entered many competitions gaining many 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. I began my teaching career at the age of 13 helping out with baby ballet classes and it was here I realised my love of teaching.

At 16 I went to Burton Technical College where I studied for a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, GCSE Dance and A Level Dance. I then went on to train under Staffordshire University and gained a Higher National Diploma in Dance. Through my years at College and University I was privileged to see many great dancers perform and also attended many workshops with some of the great dance companies of our time. I also visited places like Paris where I experienced Dance beyond my wildest dreams.

My teaching experience has enabled me not just to expand my choreography and pass on what I have learnt but to meet many great and talented children of all ages and backgrounds. Starting out as a freelance teacher I taught a wide variety of students from private day nurseries to colleges and I have loved every minute of it.

I also currently work as a Production Coordinator for a theatre company which has led me to meet many great celebrities whose acting and singing is outstanding.

I live to teach and class all my children as one large family living the dream, and of course none of this could be achieved without great parent support!

Miss Janine

Starting my music career at the age of 5, I began to have violin lessons and continued until I achieved my Grade 6 with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM).  Meanwhile I also started having lessons on the flute (grade 8), piano (grade 6) and with singing (grade 5) all of which I have taken ABRSM exams with and still play and sing to this day including the saxophone which I am teaching myself!  I left school at 18 to further my passion for music at the University of Hull where I gained a BMus, majoring in flute and studying many modules from psychology of music to music through the years.  After University I worked part time in a high school as a classroom assistant and teaching recorder and fife to pupils at lunchtimes and giving peripatetic flute lessons.  After my year working in a classroom environment I discovered a new passion for teaching and therefore went on to complete a PGCE in Secondary education with music at Nottingham Trent University.  Whilst studying for my PGCE I worked at Smisby Day Nursery as a playworker for children aged 5-11 gaining so much experience while at the same time having so much fun!

I am currently working at a Secondary school in Derby as a music teacher where alongside teaching I run a choir, staff choir and band as well as giving extra violin and theory lessons.

Every aspect of working with children whether through teaching or as their playworker brings new and exciting adventures and to see them enjoy and learn each day is by far the best part of the job!
