Miss Kirsty

I Started my very first dance lesson at the age of three and from there on it has been a life filled with leaps jumps and turns. I have achieved many exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Stage through many syllabuses from RAD to ISTD. As a child I entered many competitions gaining many 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. I began my teaching career at the age of 13 helping out with baby ballet classes and it was here I realised my love of teaching.

At 16 I went to Burton Technical College where I studied for a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, GCSE Dance and A Level Dance. I then went on to train under Staffordshire University and gained a Higher National Diploma in Dance. Through my years at College and University I was privileged to see many great dancers perform and also attended many workshops with some of the great dance companies of our time. I also visited places like Paris where I experienced Dance beyond my wildest dreams.

My teaching experience has enabled me not just to expand my choreography and pass on what I have learnt but to meet many great and talented children of all ages and backgrounds. Starting out as a freelance teacher I taught a wide variety of students from private day nurseries to colleges and I have loved every minute of it.

I also currently work as a Production Coordinator for a theatre company which has led me to meet many great celebrities whose acting and singing is outstanding.

I live to teach and class all my children as one large family living the dream, and of course none of this could be achieved without great parent support!

Miss Janine

Music is an art form, a passion and a discipline. From the age of 5 I have been actively involved in music having lessons in singing, piano, flute, violin and recorder and have taken exams with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM). I have achieved grade 8 in flute and recorder, grade 6 in violin and grade 5 in piano, singing and music theory.

I left school at the age of 18 and went on to study music at the University of Hull where I gained a BMus degree majoring in flute and studying many modules from the history of music to composition to music psychology.

I have spent many years being taught music, practical and theory, and after university decided it was my passion to teach other children and hopefully give them the same enjoyment as I have had. I left University in 2006 to take a year out volunteering at a local high school which then decided me on a more classroom based career and so I started my PGCE at Nottingham Trent in 2008.

I am currently a music teacher at a secondary school in Nottingham which I am enjoying every second. Working with such a range of children in a school environment has been challenging and rewarding to date and I can only look forward to what my future has to hold. Alongside my classroom teaching I am also giving one-to-one music tuition at JAKS, mainly in singing and keyboard/piano and I am registered with the ABRSM to enter pupils for music exams.

Every child and adult has the right to music and to see people learn and enjoy through singing or playing is by far the highlight of any day.
