Johnny Gillan

I started training in Karate at the age of 10 under the excellent tuition of Sensei Bryan Benamore. The minute I began training, my senior instructors saw I had a flair for the martial art and within 2 years I had competed in my first semi-contact kumite (tournament). Through nurturing and sharpening up on technical aspects of sparring/fighting, I began to enter area, regional, national, British and World Championship events competing in kata/form, individual kumite/fighting and team kumite. Thanks to Bryan and the senior team at Moira Karate Club, where I still currently teach, I won many gold medals and remained undefeated in semi-contact fighting for many years. I worked hard to achieve my senior instructors’ certificate at the young age of 13.
I am currently a third degree black belt in Freestyle Karate in association with the BCKO (British Contact Karate Organisation), AMA (Amateur Martial Arts Association) and EKGB (English Karate Governing Body).
I am fully trained in multiple disciplines including Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai and Kickboxing and have now had 29 full contact kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA fights. To top it all off I am the reigning Professional ISKA Midland Area Cruiserweight Kickboxing Champion and also an active MMA fighter specializing in full contact stand up and grappling hence the cage fighting. Just incase of emergencies I am a fully qualified First Aider trained by First Alert and Miner Rescue services!
The training sessions are fight and fitness based, working on strong technical stand up Thai/kickboxing and Jujitsu based grappling ground work.
